Princess Estelle of Sweden first photos

The first pictures of Sweden's royal baby girl Princess Estelle have been published on The Royal Court of Sweden's homepage.

A little fun fact: The cardigan is knitted by Crown Princess Victoria's maternal grandmother, Alice. How cute. The photo was taken 27 February 2012 at Haga slot, Sweden where the royal family of three lives.

My first thoughts is that she takes after her mother. Take a look and see for yourself.

News on Prince Friso

Announcement from the Dutch Royal Court:

Prince Friso was brought to Innsbruck university hospital by rescue helicopter at about 14:00 on 17 February, after being buried by an avalanche in Lech. He was covered for approximately 25 minutes. At the hospital, after receiving initial treatment in the reanimation unit, he was taken straight to the intensive care trauma unit. This unit specialises in treating the most seriously injured avalanche patients with the utmost medical and technical expertise. The unit's head is Dr Wolfgang Koller.

Our unit was notified of the patient's imminent arrival and we were able to prepare everything in advance. Prince Friso was brought to the hospital under reanimation conditions. Due to the length of time he was covered under the snow, his brain had been deprived of oxygen. The result was cardiac arrest, which lasted approximately 50 minutes. The patient had to be reanimated during this entire period. Fifty minutes is a very long time. One could say, too long. We hoped that the patient's mild hypothermic state had sufficiently protected the brain against excessive damage. Unfortunately, our hope was in vain. Since last Friday, a team of specialists has been fighting to save Prince Friso's life. Yesterday, a first MRI-scan was possible, without bringing the patient into danger. Since this examination and the latest neurological tests yesterday evening it is clear that the oxygen deprivation has caused extensive damage to the patient's brain. At present it is not certain whether he will ever regain consciousness. In any event, rehabilitation will take months, if not years. Prince Friso's family will now look for an appropriate rehabilitation facility.

A new Princess for Sweden

Finally the wait is over for their royal highnesses, Sweden and all of the world. The Swedish Royal court has announced that Crown Princess Victoria gave birth to a Princess at 4.26 a.m. The Princess is 51 cm long and weighs 3280 grams. Mother and baby are both doing good.

Unlike Danish tradition the names and dukedom of the new Princess will be announced by the King tomorrow.

As you may know, I predicted it would be a boy... boy was I wrong. However I did predict she would give birth in the period between 15-29 February so I am not totally wrong. Now, we need to speculate on baby names. Any suggestions?

The Old Photo: King Frederick IX of Denmark

Frederick was king of Denmark from 20 April 1947 - 14 January 1972, when he died. His daughter, Margrethe (current queen of Denmark) succeeded him and celebrates 40 years as a Queen in 2012.

Sweden prepares for an early royal baby birth

The Swedish police was seen at the Karolinska University hospital in Solna, Sweden on Sunday to rehearse putting up barriers as they will do when Crown Princess Victoria will go into labor.

On Friday some of the parking spots were reserved at the Karolinska University hospital and is this is said to indicate that the birth of the Swedish heir will take place at Karolinska in Solna any day now though nothing is confirmed yet.

It´s almost time for a new prince or princess

Today, February 15th is the day I predicted that Swedish Crown Princess Victoria would become mother for the first time and I am certain it will be a prince for Daniel and Victoria but I could be wrong. Victoria has said in an interview with Svensk Damtidning that the baby bag is already packed and now she is just waiting for her baby to give her a sign that the time has come. She also told the reporters that the first person who will be allowed to photograph the royal baby is her father, The king of Sweden. Do you think it will be a boy or a girl for Victoria?

Possible baby names for new Swedish prince or princess - Part I

Any day now, Crown Princess Victoria will be giving birth to her and hubby Prince Daniels firstborn. As I have previously predicted I am betting on a baby boy sometime mid to late February.

Speculations about the baby's name have begun and I have jotted down some of my predictions.

Closest family members of Her Royal Highness include husband Daniel (whose fathers name is Olle Gunnar), younger brother Prince Carl Philip Edmund Bertil and His Majesty Carl Gustaf Folke Hubertus (whose fathers name was Gustaf Adolf Oscar Fredrik Arthur Edmund). Victorias great grandfather was His Majesty King Gustaf Adolf whose full name was Oscar Fredrik Wilhelm Olaf Gustaf Adolf.

Previous kings of Sweden include: Karl Johan, Oscar, Charles and Gustaf.

My prediction: Carl Gustaf Oscar Fredrik Olaf.

Should Victoria and Daniel take my advice it would mean that the possible future king of Sweden will bear the same name as his maternal grandfather.

Lets wait and see what will be. In the mean time stay tuned for my predictions of names for a possible future Queen.

Also, I will be hosting a blog giveaway soon. I have yet to decide what the giveaway will be for. If you have any suggestions for me please leave them below as a comment.

Trend: Hair accessories

To my pleasant surprise I have noticed the growing popularity of hair accessories recently. If worn "right", it can make the most simple look really elegant and beautiful. Lets look at some of events last year that marked the beginnings of the popular trend.

One of my all time favorite style-princesses, Mary of Denmark sported her "Christening" Malene Birger flower head piece at the christening of her twins on April 14th last year for the third time. The first time was back in 2006 when Prince Christian was christened and the second time in 2007 when Princess Isabella was christened.

Prior to the Met Gala last year we had a big hat event, namely the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. The hair accessories I found the most feminin and flattering were the ones that the Spencer sisters were wearing. The Spencer sisters are all daughters of Earl Charles Spencer, who is late Diana's younger brother.

If you saw pictures from The Met Gala last spring you probably noticed how surprisingly many of the women were wearing a hair jewelry or hair accessory of some sort. Personally, I LOVE this trend and I think its really feminin and festive at the same time. From pictures I've seen from The Met Gala my absolute favorites were Vera Wangs Leaf Tiara and Stella Mc Cartneys Cartier jeweled piece. I wonder if the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton may have influenced some of the Met Gala guests. As you may recall several guests were spotted wearing fabulous hats and hair accessories.

Bottom row: Kate Hudson, Stella McCartney, Naomi Campbell.

Recently you may have noticed a singer called Lana Del Rey. Apart from her tragic songs and beautiful voice she is known for her statement flower head pieces. Personally I love them and I love the little halo, tiara, princess effect it gives. Do you see what I mean?

What is your opinion on the hair accessory trend. Is it in or is it out?

How to accessorize like a Princess - Part I

Princess Madeleine of Sweden is best known for her radiant beauty and simple but fashionable sense of style. It has been said that no one accessorizes better than the Swedish princess. Lets take a look at some of Madeleine's fashion staples.

Princess Madeleine frequently wears her Triwa Graystone Chrono as seen above. She is also keen on wearing her Childhood Bracelet when on official duties.
The Childhood Bracelet which you can buy to support a good cause

Madeleine still wears her Love Bracelet by Cartier which was a gift to her from her ex-fiance, Jonas Bergström. When still dating the princess Jonas allegedly wanted to do something for his girlfriend and he is supposed to have asked her father, the King of Sweden for advice. He ended up giving her the Cartier Love Bracelet. Here's a cheap alternative.

After their breakup she was spotted wearing her Cartier Love Bracelet for a long time. She even wore it to her sisters wedding in June 2010.

This princess sure knows how to accesorize! Stay tuned for part II

Pippa to become a duchess?

It looks like Pippa Middleton is back together with her ex-boyfriend, George Percy who is next in line to inherit his family fortune of $400 Million! He is next in line to become a duke and should Pippa marry him she would become the Duchess of Northumberland. That's both of your daughters Mr. Middleton!

2012: A Babyboom year for the royal houses of Europe?

2011 was the year of royal weddings. Among the royal couples we saw tie the knot were Prince William and Catherine Middleton and Prince Albert of Monaco and Charlene Wittstock. I can't help but wonder if the year of 2012 will be a babyboom year in the royal houses of Europe. Will William and Catherine produce an heir before Albert and Charlene will? What are your predictions? Might Williams cousin beat them to it? What do you think?

Newborn royal babies of the world:

  • HH unnamed Princess of Denmark, daughter of HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark and HRH Princess Marie of Denmark, born 24 January 2012
  • HRH Prince Vincent of Denmark, son of HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, born 8 January 2012
  • HRH Princess Josephine of Denmark, daughter of HRH Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, born 8 January 2012
  • Unborn child of HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and HRH Prince Daniel of Sweden. Victoria is supposedly due any day now.
When do you think Victoria will give birth and what do you think the sex of the baby will be?

My prediction: She will give birth to a baby boy on 15 February 2012
