Crown Princess Victoria and L.K. Bennett

Today L.K. Bennett released its spring/summer 2013 collection and I must say, I am a little bit disappointed. Basically there is not a whole lot to choose from and in my opinion the few dresses in the collection are to business-y looking and the collection in whole just isn't as good as their earlier collections. However, their shoe collection is divine! I would love myself a pair of these for example:

Anyway.. enough of what I want. The main reason I decided to make a post about this collection is   that I spotted a few items in there I would love to see on Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden! Her style is quite business-y and plain and therefore L.K. Bennett is perfect for her style. Actually, I know for a fact that she has a couple of her own L.K. Bennett shoes:

L.K. Bennetts Sabira Court Shoes on Victorias feet
Victoria's whole outfit - L.K. Bennetts Sabira Court Shoes on her feet

These shoes look similar to something Victoria would wear on her daily duties I think. Would love to be proofed right!

This is the new style of the Bruton Toe Cap Leather Court Shoe. Victoria already has an older version of these shoes in Taupe and Navy. I would love to see her update her wardrobe even though it might be unneccessary since she already has a pair that is really similar.

This Silver Satin Cap Sleeve Pleat Dress is something I think Victoria could rock on a warm summer day in Sweden. It would look lovely with a nice cardigan and heels.

The complete collection can be found here. Is there something in it that you could see Victoria wearing?

Would you wear a statement necklace like this to a fancy event?

Great-great-grand daughter of Queen Victoria will represent Denmark in Eurovision Song Contest 2013

Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest

Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest is a great-great-grand daughter of Queen Victoria and she will represent Denmark in 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Her song is How Many Teardrops and was elected the best out of 10 songs on January 26 in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in Denmark.

"My name is Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest. I know my name is a bit strange but it's because Queen Victoria was my great great grand mother." "It's true" Emmelie says with laughter and carries on: "King Edward VII was a bit of a playboy and he had my grandfather on my fathers side with an Austrian princess."

King Edward was the son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He married Princess Alexandra of Denmark. He was known to be a playboy and had affairs with numerous of women in his married life. He never acknowledged any of his illegitimate children.

Emmelie de Forests ancestors include royals like King Edward VII and Queen Victoria.

The half-Danish half-Swedish singer has already declared her excitement over winning the Danish Melodi Grand Prix and is both excited and proud that she will represent Denmark in Malmö, Sweden in May.

News about Princess Madeleines wedding

The past few days there has been discussion about whether or not Princess Madeleine will allow the media to take part on June 9 when she gets married to Chris O'Neill. There have been rumours going on that because the wedding will be paid by the King personally and not Swedish taxpayers as was the case when her sister, Crown Princess Victoria got married in 2010 that the wedding will not be broadcasted on live-tv.

Well... yesterday, Expressens journalist Mats Larsson met Princess Madeleine in front of the Childhood offices. To make a long story short (you can read the interview here) Madeleine said that it is not up to her alone to decide whether or not to allow media on the day and that they are starting the discussion with the King, who will ultimately decide. One thing is certain, she said, media will be allowed on the wedding day. The only thing that has to be decided is to what extent.

Royal Residences: The Royal Palace of Amsterdam

The Royal Palace in Amsterdam or Het Koninklijk Paleis, formerly the town hall was built in the seventeenth century.

The Royal Palace of Amsterdam

Historical background of the Royal Palace of Amsterdam

1648-1808 The City Hall era

In the seventeenth century Amsterdam saw a big increase in population and the city was known to be a great trading center. The old town hall was becoming to small for such a growing city which had more and more administrative tasks to take care of. It was at that time that the Mayor of Amsterdam asked the famous architect Jacob van Campen to design a town hall that was big and fancy enough for a growing city like Amsterdam. Construction of the sandstone building began in 1648 and more than 13600 piles were used for the foundations of this enormous building. Although the construction work wasn't finished the ceremonial inauguration of the building was held in 1655. Ten years later the building was completed. However interior decorations weren't completed until 1720.

Construction of The Town Hall

1808-1813 The Napoléon era

In 1806 Louis Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon the French emperor, became King of Holland. He had the City Hall completely refurbished, with galleries divided up in to rooms with wood partitions; with the rooms furnished in Empire style. He had the jail in the basement turned into wine cellars and he also built a balcony which is still used by the royal family today. By 1810 King Louis Bonaparte had become quite popular among the dutch people but his brother, Emperor Bonaparte, didn't like the way he ran the country so he was fired from his position and the building became Napoleons Imperial Palace.

The Royal Palace in 1814

1813-present The Orange era

When the French Empire came to an end the Royal House of Orange-Nassau was re-established in Holland and Prince William I was named "sovereign prince". He later proclaimed himself King of the Netherlands. He gave the Royal Palace back to the city so it could be used as a city hall again. His offer was accepted but later Amsterdam was made capital city of Holland and the King realised the importance of having a residence in the capital city so the city gave him the right to use the old Town Hall as his residence and the building became a Royal Palace again.

Current use of The Royal Palace of Amsterdam

The Royal Palace is currently one of the palaces in Holland that is in use by the Dutch Royal family. It is owned by the Dutch state. Although it is not the official residence of the Royal Family, the Palace is often used to welcome foreign heads of state when they visit Holland on official occasions and it is also used for celebrations such as royal weddings. When the Royal Palace is not in use by the Royal Family the palace is open to the public.

Art in The Royal Palace of Amsterdam

Although Louis Napoléon made many changes to the palace in his days he treated the seventeenth century ornaments with much respect. In fact the ornaments have been preserved to this day. Some of the paintings and other ornaments can be seen on Google Art.

Sophie of Prussia gives birth to two princes

Sophie and George Friedrich of Prussia welcomed two baby sons yesterday, January 20th. Princess Sopie gave birth to the twins in Bremen, Germany and apparently they came to the world naturally, i.e. there was no need for a cesarean section. The princes have been given the names Carl Friedrich and Louis Ferdinand. Carl Friedrich is the older twin and hence the heir apparent to the House of Prussia. Louis Ferdinand is the namesake of his great-grandfather Louis Ferdinand, Prince of Prussia and his grandfather Louis Ferdinand of Prussia, both of whom are deceased.

I don't know what it is but I think there is something so "Grace Kelly" about her. Always charismatic and elegant. The new official portrait just goes to show you that 40 is no age!
